Frequently asked questions
Does 100% coverage mean my phone is completely safe?
No. Coverage and protection status describe the app's current protection settings and available information. They do not measure the probability that your phone is free of malware.
Check individual switches, permissions, scan results, and their dates. No security tool detects every threat.
Why do Apps monitored, scan totals, and family charts differ?
They summarise different activities and time periods. A count of monitored apps is not the same as a completed scan count. Family charts reflect shared summaries and can lag behind local results. Check the label, date range, and last update before comparing numbers.
What does Safe mean in a scan result?
It means that assessment did not identify the app as harmful. It does not guarantee future behaviour, undo a previous incident, or make an unfamiliar download trustworthy. See understanding scan results.
Does Argus work offline?
Some protection and previously loaded rules can work on the phone. Account sign-in, online security checks, Gmail retrieval, and family updates need an internet connection. Results and shared status may be delayed while offline.
Does the VPN hide my location?
Argus's network connection is for local security filtering. It does not provide a choice of browsing country or an anonymity service. See network protection.
Why do I see sample traffic for apps I do not use?
The map displays examples when no recent traffic records are available. Check for Sample Traffic Logs (Network Protection Inactive) before interpreting a warning. See map modes.
Can I use Gmail protection without signing into Argus with Google?
Gmail protection has its own Google authorisation step. An Argus sign-in alone does not grant inbox access. Enable Gmail Email Protection, then follow Google's account and consent prompts. See the Gmail guide.
Does Message Protection scan all messaging apps?
The current feature checks notification text from Google Messages and Samsung Messages. It does not scan the entire message history or every chat app. Notification previews and notification access must be available.
Can a family member read my entire inbox?
Family email sharing publishes flagged-email summaries when enabled, including sender and subject. It does not provide the full inbox or email bodies through that summary. The person using your own phone can review locally stored flagged-email content in Argus. See family sharing.
Is quarantine the same as removing an app?
No. Quarantine applies restrictions while the necessary protection is operating. Use Uninstall and complete Android's confirmation to remove an installed app. Deleting its downloaded APK alone does not uninstall it.
How do I handle a trusted app that was flagged?
Review the finding and verify the app's source. Contact support if you are uncertain. Releasing it or adding an exception reduces restrictions; neither action proves it is safe. Follow the false-positive guidance.
Will Argus drain my battery?
Usage depends on your phone, scanning activity, traffic, background settings, and connectivity. Check Android's battery-usage page for your device. These guides do not promise a fixed daily percentage.
Use background-protection troubleshooting if the phone closes Argus to save power.
How do I change the appearance or layout?
Open App preferences:
- Change Theme opens the available colour and theme choices.
- Edit Dashboard Layout opens layout editing. Hold a highlighted section and drag it to move it. Tap the green edit button when done, or use Back to leave edit mode. Some sections are fixed in landscape view.
- Change Language may display a coming-soon message; if so, in-app language selection is not available in that version.
To restore the section order, enter layout editing, hold the green edit button, and confirm Reset layout?. While editing, some menu controls are dimmed; finish editing to use them again.
Use Help > Take a tour to revisit navigation after changing the layout. Changes to appearance do not enable protection features.
Should everyone in the family share one login?
Each person should use their own account and the device-linking flow. Do not share passwords as a substitute for linking. After signing in on another device, check the family membership and protection settings shown there.
Does logging out or uninstalling delete my account?
No. Logout, family disconnection, clearing history, and account deletion are different actions. Contact support for account or data-deletion requests. See privacy controls.
Can I export a report for support?
Yes. Logs offers a PDF scan summary and a separate network-log text export. Choose the report relevant to the problem and review it before sharing. See reports and support.
